New Music For Monday – Tommy Shaw “The Great Divide”

Tommy Shaw, the guitarist and occasional vocalist from Styx, contributing member of The Damn Yankees and solo rocker is back with a new solo album of Bluegrass music.

Says Shaw, “The Great Divide is a story of love and life; of happiness and hope; of loss and discovery. It’s the story of a journey that spans generations, and is ultimately about trying to find your way home. And I’m as proud of this story as any I’ve ever told.”

Shaw, a Montgomery, Alabama native, establishes himself as an authentic addition to the Bluegrass community, and with the help of Alison Krauss, Dwight Yoakam and Jerry Douglas, The Great Divide proves itself worthy of the genre.

THE GREAT DIVIDE Tracklist:

1. The Next Right Thing
2. Back In Your Kitchen
3. Sawmill
4. The Great Divide
5. Shadows In the Moonlight
6. Get On the One
7. Umpteen Miles
8. Cavalry
9. Afraid to Love
10. Give `em Hell Harry
11. I'll Be Comin' Home

Listening to the album I can’t help but think back to my high school days with Styx on the turntable and singing along with Tommy on “Renegade.”  This album seems like a logical progression for the acclaimed musician and every Styx fan should at least give it a preview.

THE GREAT DIVIDE releases on March 22nd, but you can listen to it for a limited time on AOL by clicking here or copy and paste the web address: http://music.aol.com/new-releases-full-cds/#/14 into your browser.
