The song CORTEZ THE KILLER is a lingering melodic piece that clocks in at around 7 ½ minutes, it’s fully 3 ½ minutes into the track before we even get lyrics. It is widely regarded as containing some of Neil’s best guitar work. What’s interesting about this song is that it’s not complete.
During the recording an electrical problem caused the console to go out and the third verse to the song was never recorded. When Neil was told of the issue he replied “I never liked that verse anyway” and the track was left as it had been recorded. The third verse has never since been recorded or performed.
